Agartala, May 11 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of yoga and meditation in leading a stress-free and healthy life while inaugurating a blood donation camp organized by the Art of Living Tripura Apex Body in Agartala's Banamalipur. The event marked the 69th birth anniversary of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister praised Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s spiritual philosophy for inspiring human values and self-realization, which in turn drives individuals toward the welfare of mankind.
Dr. Saha underlined that in a world increasingly plagued by violence, conflict, and stress, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s teachings serve as a path to inner peace and social harmony. He stressed that practicing yoga and meditation from an early age is essential, especially in shaping a drug-free and value-based society.
The Chief Minister also thanked the Art of Living organization for its proactive social initiatives like blood donation camps and educational programs in the state. He interacted with the donors at the event and encouraged others to come forward for similar noble causes.
Later, at another blood donation festival held at the Sri Sri Ramthakur Seva Mandir in Banamalipur, Dr. Saha reiterated the need to instill humanitarian values in the younger generation. He said that education should not just focus on exam scores or careers, but also on building compassionate individuals.
Dr. Saha mentioned that despite occasional shortages, Tripura has managed to meet its annual blood requirement, which stands at approximately 40,000 units. He acknowledged the spontaneous support of the public during COVID-19 and election periods. He also appreciated the ongoing social work of the Ramthakur Seva Mandir and called for greater awareness and participation in blood donation drives, especially among the youth.
Dignitaries including Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, journalist Subal Kumar Dey, and other local leaders were present during the events, which saw over 40 voluntary blood donors participating.
