DM, Education Department Deny Humiliation Claims Behind Inspector of Schools' Resignation

Agartala, June 27 (FD) The resignation of Old Agartala Inspector of Schools Supriya Das has sparked controversy after media reports claimed she stepped down following alleged humiliation by West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar during a school inspection. However, both the District Administration and the Education Department have categorically denied the allegation, asserting that her resignation was solely for personal reasons.

Responding to the reports, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar said claims linking Das's resignation to any misconduct or humiliation by him are "completely false." He maintained that the decision was taken entirely on account of her unavoidable personal circumstances.

Officials in the Education Department echoed the clarification, stating that Das had previously submitted a resignation on similar grounds and that her latest decision was also prompted by personal reasons.

According to her resignation letter, dated June 25, 2026, and addressed to the Director of Elementary Education through the proper channel, Das stated that she was unable to continue in service due to "unavoidable personal reasons" and requested that her resignation be accepted in accordance with the prescribed rules.

The Office of the Inspector of Schools, Old Agartala, has since forwarded her resignation to the Directorate of Elementary Education for further action under the applicable service rules.

The controversy arose after a newspaper report alleged that Das resigned following public humiliation by the District Magistrate during an inspection. Rejecting the claim, the District Administration and Education Department said there was no connection between the inspection and her resignation, urging that the matter should not be misrepresented.

The Education Department has not issued any separate official statement on the allegations published in the media. FD JK
