Agartala Oct 25 (FD) Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik expressed hope that the Diwali celebrations in Tripureswari and Raj Rajeswari temples becoming famous tourist spots for devotees around the world.
Diwali festivals and fairs at the famous Tripureswari temple in Udaipur and Raj Rajeswari temple in Santibazar were inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister and later by union minister Pratima Bhoumik.
The Chief Minister inaugurating the Diwali festival and fair at the famous Tripureswari temple in Udaipur, expressed his hopes of witnessing the temple to become a famous spot of tourism for devotees around the world.
Dr Manik Saha participated at the holy veneration and prayed for the welfare of the state and then inaugurated the 2 day Diwali fair.
In his speech Dr Saha said that the number of devotees at the Tripureswari temple Diwali festival is less, owing to the Sitrang cyclone waves prevailing in the state. He assured that the forces of SDRF, NDRF, police and state administration are alert and ready to face the growing natural calamity in the state and the government is focusing on sufficing the basic needs of the citizens in case of an emergency. He also requests the Matabari Deepavali committee to consider extending the celebration if the weather conditions get better.
Information and cultural affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the central government is working to renovate every religious centre in the country and also said that Diwali is not only a festival of Hindus but every citizen irrespective of their religion or racial differences. Welcome speech was presented by chairman of the fair committee Biplab Kumar Ghosh, speech of gratitude by district magistrate of Gomati district Govekar Mayur Ratilal. Among other attendees were Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister of Tripura legislative assembly Rampada Jamatia, chairperson of gomati district council Swapan Adhikari, district police super Saswata Kumar.
While the CM indulges in worship at the Tripureswari temple, Union minister Pratima Bhoumik opened the 2 day tourism festival at the Raj Rajeswari temple in Muhuripur of Santibazar sub division. Bhoumik hopes that the temple will become a seat of rich culture and heritage in the days ahead. She informed that Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur visited the temple in the past. Hence she asks for the cooperation of locals and government for the development of this temple.
She further recounts various successful projects completed by the state government and emphasized that the present government is a government for the people.
15 different demonstration stalls were opened at the fair.
The two day tourism fair at Raj Rajeswari temple was attended by chairperson of south Tripura district council Kakali Das Datta, assistant chairperson Bhivishan Das, Chairman of Jolibari panchayat committee Ravi Nama and Santi Bazar sub divisional officer Abhedananda Baidya. The inaugural function was led by the president of the fair committee Janardhan Debnath. FD DM
