District-wise Khelo Tripura Para Games will be organized in every district of the state on 3rd December

Agartala, Nov 18 (FD) The sports department of the Tripura government has decided that district-wise Khelo Tripura Para Games will be organized in every district of the state on 3rd December Divyangjan Day along with district-wise Divyangjan Day celebrations.
A preparatory meeting was held on the occasion of Games-2024. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tingku Roy presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports. PK Chakraborty, Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Sukant Ghosh, representatives of public and private Divyangjan organizations, representatives of DDRC of each district and officials of various departments.
It was decided in the meeting that district-wise Khelo Tripura Para Games will be organized in every district of the state on 3rd December Divyangjan Day along with district-wise Divyangjan Day celebrations.
State based Khelo Tripura Para Games will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in the second week of December. Competitions will be held in 14 events at the State-wise Khelo Tripura Para Games. These events include shot put, 50m run, ring throw, long jump, chess, carrom, kabaddi, blind cricket, musical ball and chair. It was informed in the meeting that these four sports events - Wheel Chair, Standing Broad Jump, Buchi and Straight Run - have been newly added to the state level sports of Tripura Para Games. It was informed in the meeting that 40 Divyangjan contestants selected from the district-wise competition will participate in the state-wise competition.
In the meeting, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy said that disabled people are an important part of our society. The development of our society will remain incomplete without the development of Divyangjans. He urged all concerned to come forward for the successful completion of this competition. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tingku Roy, Chairman, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Secretary Dr. A 29-member steering committee and 14 sub-committees were formed with PK Chakraborty, Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapas Roy and Tripura Sports Council Secretary Sukant Ghosh as vice-chairmen. It may be noted that the first state-based Khelo Tripura Para Games was held in 2023 in a joint initiative of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education.
