Dhyan Foundation Requests Halt to Cattle Seizure Pending Supreme Court Review in Animal Cruelty Case
By Firstdespatch Desk May 22, 2025
Agartala, May 22 (FD)Â Dhyan Foundation, an organization steadfastly committed to animal welfare, is currently safeguarding cattle at its Gaushala in Muhuripur. Particularly 10 cattle are central to a case where an FIR was lodged, reportedly under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, due to mistreatment they endured. Shockingly, despite the reported cruelty, the trial court ordered the release of these cattle.
Deeply concerned for the animals' safety and to prevent them from being returned to a potentially harmful environment, Dhyan Foundation has taken a stand by escalating the matter to the Hon'ble Supreme Court, filing a Special Leave Petition. This critical appeal is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow.
In stark contrast to the pursuit of justice at the highest level, the trial court order dated May 21, 2025, has authorized the Investigating Officer to use force if necessary to seize the cattle from the Foundation's care. Faced with this, Dhyan Foundation is making a simple and humane request for a temporary pause of just 2-3 days in the execution of this order. This reasonable deferment is solely to allow the Hon'ble Supreme Court the opportunity to review the case and issue directives, ensuring that the animals' welfare is paramount and that the due process of law, especially in a case involving alleged cruelty, is fully respected before any irreversible actions are taken.
