Agartala, May 01(FD) In a successful operation, the Dharmanagar police station detained three smugglers involved in heroin trafficking. The suspects were caught in possession of 13 grams of heroin and seized Rs 7670 in cash. The operation was carried out based on a tip-off, leading the police to conduct a raid in the Sonarubasa area along the Dharmanagar-Kadamtala road.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Subrata Das from Panisagar, Bahar Mia from Dharmanagar, and Rajesh Das from Kumarghat. Acting swiftly, the police were able to recover the contraband concealed inside a soap box. The diligent efforts of the law enforcement officials resulted in the prompt arrest of the traffickers involved in the heroin smuggling.
Shibu Ranjan Dey, Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, confirmed the incident and expressed satisfaction with the successful operation. The suspects are currently in police custody, and the case is under investigation. On Sunday, they were presented before the Dharmanagar district court.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the smugglers intended to transport the heroin from Kadamtala to Unakoti District. The recovery of the contraband and subsequent arrests serve as a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region. FD SB
