Agartala, July 5 (FD) With the ambitious Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 just days away, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday chaired a high-level review meeting here and expressed confidence that the event would open new avenues for investment, employment, and economic growth in the state.
The two-day conclave will be inaugurated on the afternoon of July 9 in the presence of Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, and members of the state Cabinet.
Addressing the review meeting, Saha said attracting both domestic and foreign investment is essential for generating employment opportunities for the state's youth, enhancing per capita income, and accelerating Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He described the business conclave as a landmark initiative and the largest investment promotion event ever organized in the state.
"The Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 will serve as a vital platform to showcase the state's immense investment potential to the world. We are fully committed to ensuring comprehensive preparations to make this historic event a success," the Chief Minister said.
He added that the conclave is expected to attract investment proposals worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore, with government departments actively working to achieve this target. Dr. Saha highlighted significant investment opportunities across sectors including healthcare, education, information technology, transport, tourism, renewable energy, logistics, food processing, real estate, as well as industries based on tea, rubber, and agarwood.
Recalling the success of major events such as the G-20 meetings and the North Eastern Council Plenary Session, the Chief Minister said the state administration had demonstrated the strength of "Team Tripura" through collective efforts. He expressed confidence that the same spirit would ensure the successful organization of the business conclave.
Dr. Saha also noted that during last year's conclave, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹30,000 crore were signed, while projects involving nearly ₹8,000 crore are already under implementation.
More than 20 exhibition stalls showcasing various government departments and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) will be set up at the International Fair Grounds. Around 500 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate. Invitations have been extended to embassies, high commissions, and international consultants, while representatives from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Uzbekistan have already confirmed their participation. Delegations from Russia and Indonesia have also responded positively.
The conclave will feature business-to-government meetings, sector-specific presentations, round-table discussions, business and economic reform sessions, networking events, and the signing of fresh MoUs. FICCI is the industry partner for the event, while Invest India is providing institutional support. FD JK
