Delhi Court Receives 26/11 Trial Records Ahead of Tahawwur Rana’s Arrival

A Delhi court has received key trial records related to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, ahead of the arrival of accused Tahawwur Rana from the United States. The documents were submitted to the court of District Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav, following a directive issued on January 28.
The order came in response to an application by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which sought to retrieve the case files from Mumbai, where they had been sent earlier due to multiple related cases being handled in both cities.
Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai attacks that left over 170 people dead. After exhausting all legal avenues to avoid extradition, Rana is being brought to India on a special flight. His final appeal was rejected by the US Supreme Court, paving the way for his transfer to Indian custody.
The return of the trial records to Delhi is seen as a critical step toward initiating legal proceedings against Rana in India, where he will face charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other anti-terror laws.
