Day dream: Congress calls upon TIPRA Motha for joining them

Agartala, Oct 2 (FD) In what can be called a sudden flood in a dying river, the opposition Congress was shot in the arms today as more than 7000 voters from opposition TIPRA Motha and CPI-M joined the party at the Congress Bhavan here.

They joined the party in presence of PCC president Asish Kumar Saha, working committee’s permanent invitee member and MLA Sudip Roybarman and AICC secretary Tzaritha Laitphlang .

Altogether 7423 members of 1437 families joined the party when their local leaders accepted the flag of Congress from the Congress leaders and promised to work for the Congress to end the “Misrule” of the saffron party in Tripura.

Many eyebrows were raised when the Congress MLA and working committee member Sudip Roy barman made a clarion call to ‘Tipra Motha’ supremo and former PCC president Pradyot Kishore to rejoin the party and take leadership.

 “I call upon honorable Pradyot Kishore to rejoin the party and take the leadership to strengthen Congress for the good of the people of Tripura. We promise to struggle together to ensure that his demands, aims and objects are fulfilled”, Roy barman said.

The PCC president Asish Kumar Saha and AICC secretary Tzaritha Laitphlang alleged that the BJP government had destroyed the communal harmony of the nation.

“The BJP has been practicing the politics of polarization. They are also rigging elections as evident in Tripura and are ruling the state by default as more than 61% of people in the state had voted against them in the last assembly elections held in February last”, Saha said. FD JK
