By Firstdespatch Desk Aug 29, 2023
Agartala, Aug 29 (FD) A commendable breakthrough came as personnel from the airport police station, north of Agartala, successfully seized a staggering 87 kg of 'Ganja' from a residential property in Bhagalpur village.
The operation, which led to the arrest of one individual identified as Pritam Biswas, yielded cannabis with an estimated market value of Rs 5 lakh. The success of this operation can be attributed to a tip-off received in advance, prompting a raid carried out by the police under the guidance of SDPO Parmita Pande.
Pande praised "the vigilance of her team in intercepting contraband 'Ganja' and preventing its smuggling across borders, particularly into Bangladesh or out of the state". She reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement to continue these efforts.
In another shocking incident, a gang of audacious miscreants targeted the shop owned by Block Congress President Bijay Ghosh in the Dukli Ghosh Para area, falling under the jurisdiction of Amtali police station.
The thieves executed their plan by breaking into the establishment and subsequently setting it ablaze. This brazen act resulted in the loss of Rs 5 to 6 lakh in cash. Following the incident, the local police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case based on a complaint filed by Bijay Ghosh himself. FD SB
