Cybercrime Control Needs Forensic Tools Alongside Policing: Governor

Agartala, Sept 24 (FD) Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu stressed the importance of incorporating modern forensic technology alongside conventional investigation methods to effectively combat the rising challenges of cybercrime. He was speaking at the inauguration of a seminar and annual award distribution programme titled “Innovation in the Field of Forensic Science and Cyber Security” held at the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), Agartala campus.
Expressing concern over the rapid increase in cyber fraud and criminal activities due to technological advancement and digitization, the Governor said that the misuse of technology is gradually eroding trust in society. To safeguard the digital future, he emphasized the need for awareness and acceptance of innovative forensic tools and modern investigative techniques. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant against cyber threats.
The Governor highlighted the importance of such seminars in creating a secure digital ecosystem. Following the inaugural session, he toured the NFSU campus, visiting the academic block, library, instrument section, and various laboratories. NFSU Director Dr. H.K. Pratihari and other faculty members explained the functioning of different laboratories and ongoing forensic support extended to Tripura Police.
Later, an audio-visual presentation showcased the history of NFSU in Tripura, its achievements, and its contributions in providing forensic assistance to law enforcement. The Governor also planted a sapling on the campus, symbolizing the commitment to growth and sustainability in education and security research. FD SB
