CWG: Pugilists Preeti Pawar & Ankush assure medals for India in respective bouts

At the ongoing Commonwealth Games, Indian boxers Preeti Pawar and Ankush Panghal advanced to the final in their respective bouts at Glasgow today, assuring India at least two silver medals. Dominating the contest from the opening round, Preeti entered the final with a unanimous 5-nil victory over Zambia’s Catherine Mwape in Women’s 54kg Semifinal. She displayed sharp combinations and excellent footwork. She will take on Canada’s Scarlett Delgado in the final tomorrow. 

Ankush Panghal entered the Men’s 80kg final defeating Canada’s Joshua Ofori by a unanimous 5:nil decision in the semi final match today. 

India have won 17 medals so far at the Commonwealth Games 2026, comprising three gold, nine silver and five bronze.
