Agartala, April 23 (FD) In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old CRPF person, Mithilesh Roy, died after being electrocuted at his rented residence in the Goalabasti area of Agartala on Tuesday.
According to police sources, Roy suffered a severe electric shock while working on an electrical connection inside his house. He reportedly remained unconscious for a considerable period before family members noticed him and rushed him to ILS Hospital, where doctors declared him “dead on arrival.”
Later, the body was shifted to GBP Hospital for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the family. Scenes of grief unfolded at his residence as relatives and neighbours mourned his untimely death. His last rites were performed subsequently.
Residents of the Goalabasti locality alleged that unsafe and poorly maintained electrical wiring—from roadside poles to residential connections—has been a persistent issue in the area. They claimed that such unscientific installations often lead to short circuits and pose serious risks to public safety. FD JK
