Crime rates in Tripura dropped 19.4% due to zero tolerance to crimes: CM

Agartala, May 13 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday claimed that the overall crime rate in the state has dropped by 19.4 percent in the year 2024-25 compared to the last year due to good governance and no tolerance to the crimes by the state government.
He said government is strict in taking action against crime and takes all measures to decrease crimes by the way of good governance.
“The crime rate decreased by 19.4% in 2024-25 compared to the last year. We have done remarkable works in last four months when the crime rate decreased by 10%. We are very serious about crime against women and so we have set up many women police stations and Women Help Desks were set up in every police station”, he said so in a programme of distribution of appointment letters for the post of constables.
Chief Minister, who is also the home minister of the state said, the government declared its policy of zero tolerance to drug related crimes as a result of which seizure of narcotics rose by 106% and there has been 132% increase in destruction of narcotics.
The road traffic accident has decrease by 40% this year in comparison with the last year.
The government today distributed 975 appointment letters including 332 for women and 643 for men.
He said the government is very transparent and provides job on the basis of merit and there was no third party interference.
Saha also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modis powerful address last night about India’s stance towards zero tolerance to the terrorism and nation’s safety and security.
Prime Minister declared that he would not tolerate ‘nuclear blackmailing by Pakistan and reminded that terror and trade, terror and talks cannot go together. FD JK
