Agartala, Oct 13 (FD) The state unit Secretary of the opposition CPI-M, Jitendra Chaudhury on Thursday said the party would organise a mass gathering at the Swami Vivekanada Maidan here on October 21 to make people aware about the ‘misdeeds and bad governance’ of the ruling BJP in Tripura.
He said the meeting is only a mass gathering for awareness and cannot anyway be termed as an election rally, which is likely to be announced two months later. The meeting would be addressed by the party’s general secretary, Sitaram Yechuri, politburo member, Manik Sarkar among others.
Addressing a press conference at CPIM party office, Chaudhury said, “Even the meeting is scheduled to be held about two months before the ensuing assembly elections in the state, it’s not a part of our election campaign rather it will focus on aware people of the state about the activities of the ruling government of the state since it formed in the state in 2018.”
He said party organized at least 175 meetings or rallies in last one and month from August 16 to September 30 in connection with the awareness about the autocratic activities of this government and the ruling party members.
Chowdhury came down heavily on the ruling BJP-IPFT coalition government on several issues including non fulfillment of the vacant posts in the state, deterioration of law and order situation in the state and increase in the prices of daily necessities during the last four and a half years of rule, increase in fuel prices and other issues.
