Agartala, July 19 (FD) In a tragic turn of events, CPIM MLA Samsul Haque, aged 68, from Boxanagar Assembly Constituency, breathed his last in the early hours of July 19 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Haque, a prominent member of the CPIM state committee, fell ill late last night and was immediately rushed to GB Pant Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he could not be revived and was declared deceased.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his heartfelt condolences on Facebook, stating, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of Hon'bleMLA Samsul Haque of Boxanagar Assembly Constituency. I pray for eternal peace for his departed soul. My sincere condolences go out to the grieving family."
With the sudden loss of Samsul Haque, another seat has fallen vacant in addition to the Dhanpur Assembly Constituency in Sonamura Sub-division of Sepahijala district. The CPIM now holds 10 MLAs in the Assembly House.
Despite his short tenure, Haque was actively engaged in serving the people of Boxanagar.
However, tragedy struck as he suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his home in Kulubari late last night. He was rushed to the GBP hospital due to severe breathing problems, but sadly, around 2:00 AM, he passed away despite the doctors' efforts to revive him.
Haque's mortal remains were brought to the state assembly, where ministers and available MLAs paid their respects.
Subsequently, his remains were taken to the CPI (M) state headquarters in Melarmath, where senior party leaders and workers offered floral tributes. He will be laid to rest in Boxanagar today, following traditional rituals.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is en route to north Tripura by railway, expressed his "deepest condolences" on the demise of Samsul Haque. Considering the loss of the CPI (M) MLA as significant and irreplaceable, the chief minister has decided not to undertake any official work today. FD SB
