Agartala, May 02 (FD) The Udaipur sub-divisional committee of the CPI (M) held a crucial meeting with the District Magistrate of Gomati District on Sunday, submitting a memorandum outlining four pressing demands.
The memorandum expressed serious concern over the ongoing acts of terror perpetrated by the ruling party, including incidents of extortion and the systematic prevention of opposition party supporters from engaging in various economic activities.
Led by Madhab Saha, Secretary of the CPI (M) Gomati District, a delegation comprising sub-divisional secretary Dilip Datta, Nikhil Das, Sribas Debnath, and Rajib Sen met with the District Magistrate. Following the meeting, the leaders addressed a press conference, informing the public about their discussion with the District Magistrate. They highlighted that the District Magistrate patiently listened to their grievances and assured them that appropriate action would be taken after a thorough investigation.
The leaders alleged that certain miscreants affiliated with the ruling party were exerting pressure on opposition party workers to pay illegal sums of money. These individuals were reportedly coercing the workers into withdrawing previously filed cases and demanding financial contributions to sustain ongoing legal battles. The CPI (M) leaders firmly demanded swift action against these unlawful activities and appealed for enhanced security measures to protect the rights and safety of their party workers.
The leaders expressed hope that their demands would be met and that the ruling party would be held accountable for their actions.
As the investigation unfolds, the public eagerly awaits the outcome, hoping for justice and a renewed sense of democratic values in the region. FD SB JK
