CPI (M) predicts BJP decline after 2029

Agartala, June 20 (FD) CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby on Friday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gradually losing public support and may find it difficult to return to power after the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press conference in Agartala after attending the party's two-day State Committee meeting, Baby said growing public dissatisfaction over unemployment, inflation, rising living costs and economic challenges is weakening the BJP's support base across the country.

He alleged that the Centre's policies have failed to address the concerns of youth, farmers, workers and other vulnerable sections of society, leading to increasing discontent. Baby also accused the BJP of pursuing divisive politics instead of focusing on economic and social issues.

The CPI(M) leader asserted that secular and democratic forces are gaining momentum and could emerge as a strong alternative in the coming years. He said the Left would continue working with like-minded parties to defend democratic institutions, constitutional values, secularism and social justice.

Emphasising the party's future strategy, Baby said the CPI(M) would strengthen its grassroots organisation, expand mass outreach programmes and intensify public movements ahead of the 2029 parliamentary elections. FD JK
