CPI-M criticize Tipramotha for succumbing to the offer of central government

Agartala, March 13(FD) In a major shift of demands from earlier, the Tipra Motha, a tribal based populist party, which demanded greater Tipraland by carving out the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and through inclusion of some Tiprasa inhabiting places in Bangladesh, Assam and Mizoram seems happy with the centre’s offer to appoint an interlocutor between the party and centre to understand their problems.
Tipra Motha came under strong attack from the state secretary of the CPI (M) Jiten Chowdhury, who termed it as a treacherous and self-serving politics of "Tipra Motha".
In an oblique reference to its supreme leader Pradyot Kishore Chowdhury said, "At first, we had heard of lofty demands like 'Greater Tipraland' or 'Tipraland' and constitutional solution, but now they seem happy over offer of appointment of an intermediary; fireworks are being resorted to over this," stated Jiten. He blasted at the fake arguments made and stated that this politics (of Tipra Mortha') has only strengthened BJP-RSS combine, stating that the eventual conclusion of the proposed appointment of 'interlocutor' will be like that of so-called 'modality committee'.
Jiten claimed that the left-leaning forces in the state were responsible for recognizing the indigenous community of the state and bringing it honor through the provision of the necessary benefits, such as job and educational reservations, the construction of all-encompassing infrastructure in the hilly regions, and the promotion of the tribal language "Kokborok" and the traditional culture, music, and dances of Tripura. “Even in the matter of land allotment to tribals under the Right to Forest Act-2006 Tripura is the highest achiever” said Jiten.
He said that ‘Tipra Motha’s exclusivist politics had immensely damage to the indigenous tribal communities as the ADC for tribals and extension by Centre of the 6th schedule of the constitution were results of united mass movement of all sections of people. “The movement for tribal development has to be united and based on consensus among all sections of people of the state; recourse to sectarian exclusivism will not solve problems of the tribals” said Jiten.
He further accused the BJP and RSS of showing little concern for the indigenous populations around the nation. “Those propagating pure tribalism should remember that the BJP and RSS never even recognize the distinctive identities of the tribal people across the country ; by playing second fiddle to such forces regional parties at the state level will only irreparably damage the vital interests of the tribal people” said Jiten.
