CPI-M blocked main road before the West PS against activities of VHP

Agartala, Sept 6 (FD) The opposition CPI-M today demonstrated and blocked the main road before the West Agartala police station to press for arrest of a large group of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers who had demonstrated in front of the residence of CPI (M) state secretary and central committee member Jiten Chowdhury in Krishna Nagar area here.
Number of front ranking leaders of the Marxist party including former minister Manik Dey, former Loksabha MP Sankar Prasad Datta and former Rajya Sabha MP and left front convener Narayan Kar blocked the road along with many activists of the party.
The leaders alleged that VHP and its allied organizations are ‘vitiating’ the atmosphere of the state.
The leaders alleged that the VHP was trying to create communal situation.
About 60 VHP workers organised a demonstration before the house of the leader of the opposition at Krishnanagar and shouted slogans in protest against his anti-Hindu speech.
Chowdhury allegedly criticised BJP activists at Majlishpur constituency allegedly for arsoning the houses of some people belonging to minority community. FD JK
