Contraband worth Rs. 3 crore seizes Tripura Police and BSF from Ushabazar.

Agartala, Jun 09 (FD) Tripura police seized a huge cache of contraband worth Rs 3 crore from a truck at Ushabazar, on the outskirts of the capital city, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Parmita Pandey said.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of state police and BSF officials conducted a search operation in a truck parked on the roadside at Ushabazar last night and recovered a huge cache of banned cough syrups worth Rs 3 crore.
"We received the tip that a truck carrying contraband items was parked on the roadside at Ushabazar, which is not very far from the Indo-Bangla international border.
Tripura police and BSF jointly conducted the search operation and seized the cough syrups, which were meant for smuggling to Bangladesh. The contraband was hidden under the bags full of maize. These kinds of cough syrups are used for intoxication in Bangladesh.
"We have seized around 84,800 bottles of banned Eskuf cough syrup. The market value of the item is around Rs 3 crore in the black market. Further investigation is on", said the cop.
Earlier on Thursday, the police arrested 10 people and seized contraband items worth Rs 6 lakh in another raid in West District. FD JK
