Content Creator Arrested in Agartala Over Alleged Rape of Young Woman

Agartala, May 18 (FD) Tripura Police have arrested a content creator and mobile phone shop owner, identified as Aditya Das, in connection with an alleged rape case involving a young woman from Dhalai district.
Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Paritosh Das, said the accused was arrested late Saturday night following a complaint lodged at the West Agartala Women Police Station.
According to the complaint, the accused had come into contact with the woman through Facebook around three months ago. Their online interaction gradually developed into regular communication. Police said the accused allegedly lured the woman by promising to gift her an expensive iPhone and later arranged a meeting in Agartala.
“As stated in the complaint, the woman travelled by train to Agartala on Saturday morning. The accused allegedly received her at the railway station on a motorcycle,” the police officer said.
Police alleged that the accused initially told the woman he would take her elsewhere but instead brought her to a hotel near the railway station. The complaint further stated that the woman was allegedly raped inside the hotel and assaulted when she resisted.
Following the complaint, police immediately launched an investigation and detained the accused from the location. He was later formally arrested around midnight, the officer added.
Police sources said the accused is originally from the Kamalpur area of Dhalai district and operates two mobile phone shops in Agartala, near Siddhi Ashram and Laxminarayan Bari areas. He is also reportedly active on social media as a content creator.
Sources further said that the accused is married and had been residing in the Gangail Road area of Agartala. Police have initiated further investigation into the case. FD JK
