Agartala, Mar 20 (FD) A community hall would be constructed and a pond would be renovated by the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Vaishnavtilla, officials said today.
The area falls under Ward No. 49 and the project was halted in 2015 during the tenure of the Left Front government. However, after the BJP government took over the municipal corporation, the project was revived.
Today, Mayor Deepak Majumder, local MLA Minarani Sarkar, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, Ward No. 49 Corporator Harisadhan Debnath, Corporator Bapi Das, and other officials visited the site to assess the progress of the construction work.
The mayor stated that the modern community hall, with a seating capacity of 400, is being built at a cost of ₹1.23 crore and will be completed within the next three months. He also mentioned that the hall’s completion will fulfill a long-standing demand of the residents.
Additionally, residents of Vaishnavtilla’s Roy Colony had been requesting the renovation of a pond in the area. Due to the construction of the Unity Mall, a pond previously used for idol immersion was lost, creating difficulties for immersion ceremonies in the locality. Addressing this issue, the mayor assured that the Roy Colony pond would be renovated and designated for immersion rituals.
He further informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared, ensuring that the pond’s renovation will not face significant delays. The immersion facility is expected to be ready before the upcoming Durga Puja. FD JK
