Congress slams Chief Minister on law and order ground

Agartala, Jan 20 (FD) The opposition Congress in Tripura on Monday slammed the government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhaban here, Prabir Chakraborty, the party spokesman countered the recent statement by the Chief Minister, also the home minister of the state and said that what Chief Minister said is the conscious effort to hide the truth.
He said, according to a release by the Ministry of Home affairs that in the month of December that a total of 113 persons were murdered in the state between the last January to November and 1485 cases of crime against were documented.
Chakraborty added that others crimes like thefts, kidnapping, dacoity and scuffles stood at 145, 87, 9 and 22 respectively.
He further said that only in the month of the last December at least 22 persons died of unnaturally and 8 cases of domestic violence were also reported. Chakraborty also mentioned that communal violence had happened at Gandacherra in Dhalai district and Kaiturbari in West Tripura district, which were not uttered by him. FD JK
