Condolences have poured in from a wide spectrum of society at the demise of legendary playback singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the loss of the celebrated singer.
In her message, the President said, passing away of Asha Bhosle has created a huge void in the world of music.
The Vice President said Asha Bhosle’s versatile voice allowed her to effortlessly transition across genres, mastering soulful ghazals and traditional bhajans, leaving an indelible mark on Indian music.
Prime Minister Modi, in his message, said Asha Bhosle was one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. He said that her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched the country’s cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world.

The unrivalled queen of Indian playback singing, Asha Bhosle, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 92. She was admitted to a private hospital yesterday evening due to a chest infection and exhaustion.
Her death marks the end of an era in Bollywood music, with her career spanning more than eight decades and encompassing more than 12,500 songs in different languages. Her last rites will be performed with full state honours tomorrow at 4 PM at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
