Agartala, Sept 15 (FD): Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Wednesday warned the puja organizers of dire consequences if they forcefully collect subscriptions for the upcoming Durga puja in the state.
He said this while addressing a meeting with the secretaries of different clubs and heads of Puja committees to discuss various events and measures to adopt during the 5 day celebration of Durga Puja.
The meeting was convened by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here and the chief Minister was present there as chief guest.
He also emphasized on the creation of ‘Atmanirbhar Tripura’ and therefore requested the big Puja clubs to support the local artists and workers.
Dr. Manik Saha also said to avoid consumption of any intoxicating substance to maintain the decorum and flow of events during Durga Puja.
He asked the organizers to work together in judicious use of electricity, hiring workers and organizing healthy competitions to allow smooth conduct of the festival.
In the meeting, the ministers of information and cultural affairs Sushanta Chowdhury requested all the clubs to participate in the emersion rally to be organized by the authorities on October 7. The procession will proceed from Post office chowmuhani through Paradise chowmuhani until Dashamighat.
The mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation said that the Puja organizers can visit the zonal office with matters involving the approval of Durga Puja celebration in their localities.
During the meeting it was also mentioned that a budget of 5 crore is allotted to maintain the roads and decorate the city. 6 important roads will be decorated with triranga lights, road repair, installation of flood lights and facilities of cranes and trolleys in Dashamighat will be arranged.
The deputy inspector general G.K Rao said that 104 requests in west Tripura and 2500 requests have been received in the entire state. Besides the police force, 1500 TSR, scouts and guides and NCC members will also be there to maintain the security and discipline in the state. The city will have no entry from 5pm to 12 am.
Among the other addresses in the meeting were, the chief secretary J.K Sinha, Director General of Police Amitava Ranjan, secretary of electricity department Brijesh Pandey, Municipal commissioner Debopriyo Bardhan, and president of club forum Pranab Sarkar.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Monica Das Datta, A.C.P Shankar Debnath, and the zonal chairman of Agartala Municipal Corporation. Among the club organizers, the meeting was attended by member representatives of Jewels association, Ramnagar Sporting Club, Jayanagar J.P.C, Santikami Sangha and Sri Aurobindo Sangha. FD DM
