Agartala, Dec 29 (FD) In order to decongest the city, the state government has decided to give the 1.1 acre of land of the old motor stand here to construct a multi-level car parking complex, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said on Thursday.
After inspecting the side of construction, Majumder said, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday will lay the foundation stone of the parking facility, which will have a capacity of 280 cars to park.
Apart from that, there will be multiplexes with various types of commercial hotels, shopping malls, Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Mission Director & Chief Executive Officer of Agartala Municipal Corporation who accompanied Majumder told reporters.
He said the building will be the highest having 50 meters height in the NorthEast region. This building will be built in a private public partnership model, Yadav added.
He said, “The government has given the land to a private company on lease for 30 years. The private company will pay rent to the government. The project will be completed within three years and the private company will own it for up to 30 years. Later, if the state government wants to increase the contract further, or everything including the building will be owned by the state government.”
This is the second project of private public partnership after Polo-Tower which was built through such a DBFOT model, Yadav added.
He said, the private company will bear the entire cost of constructing the building which would likely cost Rs 200 crore.
The Mayor said, arrangements have been made for temporary parking space at Chittaranjan road adjacent to the old motor stand for now. Besides, alternative space to shift the vendors of the motor-stand has also been arranged. FD PD JK
