CM Saha Welcomes Fast-Track Courts for Paper Leak Cases as Students Protest in Agartala

Agartala, July 23 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Thursday welcomed the Centre's decision to establish fast-track courts for cases related to question paper leaks, calling it a significant step towards safeguarding the future of students and ensuring justice.
Saha said the move by the Narendra Modi-led government reflects its commitment to protecting the hard work, merit and aspirations of millions of students. "By bringing in fast-track courts, the government has ensured greater hope, fairness and transparency for hardworking students across the nation," he said, adding that swift and stringent action against those involved in paper leak cases would send a strong message that such offences would not be tolerated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while announcing the decision, said the welfare of the country's youth remains the government's top priority. He stated that directions had been issued for speedy trials and strict punishment for those responsible for examination paper leaks, asserting that anyone attempting to jeopardise students' future would not be spared.
Meanwhile, a group of students from various educational institutions across Tripura staged a peaceful demonstration near the Circuit House in Agartala for the fourth consecutive day, demanding accountability over alleged examination paper leaks and reforms to restore confidence in the education system.
Addressing the media, a student representative said the protest was an independent initiative without any political backing. "We are here as students demanding accountability for repeated question paper leaks. This is our democratic right," the representative said.
The protesters said students from both tribal and Bengali communities had united under a common identity as students and expressed concern over declining public trust in the examination system. They also referred to reports of student suicides linked to examination-related controversies, including NEET, and demanded strict action against those responsible for irregularities.
The students further condemned the alleged use of force against protesters in different parts of the country and called for greater transparency, accountability and reforms to protect the integrity of competitive examinations. The demonstration concluded peacefully. FD JK
