CM receives accolades from Prime Minister for amazing results in by-elections

Agartala, Sept 19 (FD) The Tripura unit of the saffron party received accolades from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making headway among the minority voters, which was evident from the results of the recently concluded by-elections on Sept 5 last at Dhanpur and Boxanagar constituencies in Sepahijala district.
“I met Prime Minister Narendra in Delhi recently and he wanted to know how our party could make such amazing results in the two constituencies where sizable voters are from minority communities. I replied that it was due to the good governance and developments undertaken by our party both in the state and the country as well”, he said this during his address in a meeting of the party workers today at Rajnagar , a village near Indo-Bangla border in South Tripura district.
In the Boxanagar constituency, where more than 63% voters are from minorities, the BJP candidate Tafajjal Hossain had forfeited deposits of the Left Front candidate and won by over 20,000 votes.
In Dhanpur constituency, the nominee of the saffron party won by a margin of over 18000 votes. Even as Hindu voters are the majority there, the tribal and minority votes play important factors in the elections.
Chief Minister, who was the Chief campaigner in the bi-elections informed the Prime Minister that he had repeatedly visited the minority compact areas several times and convinced them that BJP wants -
Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash.
He also said that the trust and confidence of the countrymen in BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership continued to grow in the country as well as in Tripura.
Saha also extended a warm welcome to around 700 opposition voters from 203 families who joined the BJP.
After the by-elections, the tally of the BJP-IPFT coalition in the 60-member assembly rose to 34 from 33. FD JK
