CM Pushes Fast-Track Execution of Urban Projects

Agartala, May 3 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday directed officials to expedite urban development projects across the state, emphasising strict adherence to timelines, quality execution, and proper maintenance to improve civic services.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at his official residence, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of works under the Urban Development Department and urban local bodies. He asked authorities to accelerate key projects being implemented by the Tripura Urban Development Authority, including the Junction Gate in Agartala and the Lighthouse Project at the Akhaura border.
Saha stressed early completion of the proposed city hospital and directed installation of CCTV cameras across urban areas to enhance security. He also called for the construction of railings along footpaths to improve pedestrian safety.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to speed up the Gomati riverfront development in Udaipur and ensure proper maintenance of pump houses, along with setting up new ones where required. Reviewing sanitation measures, he emphasised regular door-to-door waste collection and scientific solid waste management.
He expressed satisfaction over the near completion of pink toilets in 20 urban locations and asked the Agartala Municipal Corporation to ensure eco-friendly disposal or recycling of idols after festivals.
Highlighting flagship schemes such as AMRUT 2.0 and the Smart City Mission, Saha said timely completion of projects would strengthen accountability and promote sustainable urban growth. FD JK
