Agartala, May 27 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has ordered an inquiry about why the District Magistrate of Gomati, Tarit Kanti Chakma refused to meet Tipra Motha party Chief Pradyot Kshore Manikya Debbarma on Saturday night.
Saha on his return from Delhi yesterday asked Chief Secretary, JK Sinha to inquire about why the DM refused to meet him and submit a report soon, official sources said.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when Debbarma accompanied by the Chief Executive Member of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Purna Chandra Jamatiya, visited the DMs residence at Udaipur to discuss urgent district matters.
Debbarma said, multiple text messages and phone calls made to the DM over the past month went unanswered. “I went personally to discuss important issues with DM, but he refused to meet me. Even the Chief Minister met me in his official residence”, he told reporters.
The incident has drawn strong criticism from across the political spectrum.
The Leader of the opposition and CPI-M state Secretary, Jitendra Chowdhury criticized the DM for his acts.
“DM Gomati’s behavior with two public representatives is not at all acceptable and condemnable”, Chowdhury said.
MLA Ranjit Debbarma also demanded action against Chakma for his behavior. FD JK
