Agartala, Feb 2 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated four major development projects at Atharabhola in the Killa Block of Gomati district, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to building a self-reliant and strong Tripura through focused investment in education, health and sports infrastructure.
Addressing a large public gathering, the Chief Minister described Tripura as a peaceful, green and promising state in the northeastern region and said that the government’s primary objective is to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of the state. He said the projects inaugurated in Killa symbolise the government’s belief in not only making promises but also delivering tangible outcomes on the ground.
Among the key projects inaugurated was a modern astro-turf synthetic football mini stadium constructed at a cost of ₹5.36 crore. Dr. Saha said the stadium would open new avenues for nurturing sporting talent in the region and provide local youth with access to quality sports infrastructure, encouraging discipline, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.
Highlighting the importance of education, the Chief Minister said that sustainable development is impossible without inclusive and quality education, with special emphasis on women’s participation. He underlined that the progress of tribal communities is essential for the overall growth of both the state and the nation. To strengthen residential facilities for students, two 50-seat girls’ hostels were constructed at Dasarath Deb Memorial English Medium Model School and Devtamura High School, at a combined cost of ₹5.20 crore.
On healthcare, Dr. Saha said that a healthy society forms the foundation of a developed society. A 10-bed modern Primary Health Centre has been built at Nityabazar under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund at a cost of ₹5.40 crore. The facility is expected to significantly reduce the need for villagers to travel long distances for basic medical treatment and ensure accessible, quality healthcare services at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the state’s journey from past unrest to peace and development, stating that the current government has successfully brought Tripura back into the mainstream of growth. He mentioned improvements in national highways, railway connectivity, approval of new projects in recent cabinet meetings, and the proposal for setting up 15 more Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
Referring to the Union Budget presented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Saha said it reflects the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and will support the welfare of tribal and marginalised communities. He reiterated that the government’s ultimate goal is to build a “Developed Tripura” by 2047. FD SB
