Agartala, Jan 31 (FD) Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the new academic building and hostel of the North-East Institute of Nursing Science near Amtali Bypass today. Emphasizing the crucial role of nurses in the healthcare sector, he highlighted the state government's commitment to strengthening medical infrastructure and providing quality education in healthcare institutions.
During his speech, the Chief Minister stated that the state’s healthcare system has significantly advanced, allowing complex surgeries, including neurosurgeries, to be performed within the state. Additionally, after the successful launch of kidney transplant services, initiatives have been taken to introduce liver and other organ transplants, further improving medical facilities. He expressed confidence that these advancements would continue enhancing healthcare services in the coming days.
The Chief Minister noted that the government has already established two medical colleges, a dental college, a nursing college, and several healthcare education institutions to ensure the state produces highly skilled medical professionals. He also stressed that the reputation of a hospital largely depends on its nursing staff, and therefore, fostering a compassionate relationship between nurses, patients, and their families is essential.
Highlighting the success of local talent in the field of nursing, the CM mentioned that many youths from Tripura are excelling in nursing services across India and abroad. He expressed optimism that the North-East Institute of Nursing Science would further contribute to producing skilled nurses who will strengthen the state's healthcare sector.
Major Healthcare Developments in Tripura
The Chief Minister also spoke about major healthcare infrastructure projects undertaken by the government. A Super Specialty Block has been established at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital with an investment of ₹250 crore. Moreover, trauma centers in district hospitals have been reinforced, and a Cardiac Care Center has been set up in Ambassa, significantly reducing the number of patients needing referrals outside the state.
Speaking at the event, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder highlighted the state's growing healthcare infrastructure, stating that both government and private institutions are playing an active role in strengthening the sector. He noted that people can now feel a significant improvement in healthcare services compared to previous years.
Padma Shri Awardee Chittaranjan Maharaj praised the efforts of the government in promoting nursing education and overall healthcare development. He stated that the North-East Institute of Nursing Science would provide more opportunities for local youth to pursue a career in nursing.
Chairman of the North-East Institute of Nursing Science, Dr. Partha Pratim Saha, also addressed the gathering. Other dignitaries present at the event included MLA Meena Rani Sarkar and Tripura Central University Registrar Deepak Sharma.
