CM inaugurates immersion carnival 2022 at Agartala city centre

Agartala, Oct 07 (FD) Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the ‘Mayer Gaman - 2022’ popularly known as 'Durga Puja' carnival, organized with the i
nitiative of Information and Cultural Affairs Department on Friday evening.
The 'Durga Puja' carnival is a long procession of idols of goddess Durga along with their organizers proceeding towards immersion ghat, also known as Dashamighat, which
would pass through the streets near the city centre on Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agriculture and Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, MP Rebati Tripura, Justice Arindam Lodh and other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
Dr Saha in his inaugural address praised ICA department for organizing such event. He greeted puja organizers as well as devotees for their participation.
Around 50 clubs took part in the carnival. A six-member panel will select the ‘best ones’ under different categories from the participating clubs – later the best ones will be awarded. Notably, a panel already visited puja pandals to identify the best theme, pandal decoration and illumination etc.
In 2018, the capital city witnessed immersion carnival– however, this year, the carnival is expected to be much more attractive.
The security was beefed up for smooth conduct of the carnival.
