CM inaugurates Halfway Home and launches helpline- 14567 for senior citizens

Agartala, Sep 12 (FD) People should extend their helping hands to divyangjan with the mantra of ‘people is for people’, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Monday after inaugurating the newly constructed 50 bedded Halfway Home ('Shantinir') under the initiative of Social Welfare and Social Education Department at Narsinghgarh.
“There are many people in the society who have several physical and mental problems, but none of them are neglected in the society and it is our duty to extend helping hands to them,” Dr Saha.
Besides, the Chief Minister launched 'Senior Citizen Helpline - 14567' to provide assistance and advice to senior citizens.
Dr Saha said the helpline was launched to provide a means of communication that would help senior citizens to share and report their problems through the helpline number- 14567.
While addressing the gathering, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Santana Chakma said, the state government is working for the welfare of the citizens from children to senior citizens in keeping with the mantra of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.
The Chief Minister also launched the Juvenile Justice Fund website.
Besides, he handed over meritorious awards to two students who scored highest in the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations among divyang students.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 24 thousand to the divyang student who topped in Secondary examination while cheque of Rs 54 thousand was given to the Higher Secondary topper.
Moreover, the divyang students who qualified the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations with good marks were also awarded by Dr Saha in the programme. FD PD JK
