Agartala, Sept 26 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said the state government would work in coordination with its alliance partners to address issues concerning the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and accelerate development across the state.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Agartala, Saha said representatives of the alliance partners had met him and discussed several matters, particularly those related to the ADC, the ongoing Village Committee elections and development.
“Our alliance partners met with me, and we discussed multiple issues—primarily issues concerning the village council elections and development-related topics,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister said he had informed the alliance leaders that the central leadership was aware of the issues and that discussions were underway to find solutions.
“I assured them that those issues would be looked into,” he added.
Saha stressed the need for coordination among the alliance partners and called for collective efforts towards the development of the state.
“We want to work together to build a beautiful Tripura, and we seek your cooperation in this endeavour,” he said.
Referring to Tripura’s demographic composition, Saha said people from different communities should maintain harmony and work together for the state’s development. Citing the 2011 Census, he said the tribal population accounted for around 31 per cent and the non-tribal population around 69 per cent, while also noting the presence of the Manipuri community and other minorities.
“We would fight the elections together and avoid all kinds of confrontations or hostile behaviour toward one another. We will coexist harmoniously,” Saha said, adding that he had conveyed the same message to alliance partners and that they had agreed with him.
On the issues facing the ADC, Saha said alliance partners had suggested that state government assistance could help address some of the problems.
“They let me know that assistance from the state government would be beneficial,” he said.
The Chief Minister also linked some of the existing problems to the period of Left Front rule in the state. He said he had suggested that alliance partners publicly raise the matter if they believed the issues originated during that period.
“I gave them some suggestions regarding the origins of these problems, pointing out that they arose during the Communist regime,” he said.
Saha further said he had asked the alliance partners to approach the media and state their position if they believed the problems were a legacy of the previous government.
