CM concerned over spurt of infiltration, five Rohingyas arrested

Agartala, July 5 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has expressed deep concern over the recent rise in the infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas into Indian territory, when five Rohingyas, including three women, were arrested from Assam-Tripura border, sources in the security forces said.
A press statement issued by BSF here said, a meeting was held in the office of the Chief Minister in presence of the Chief Secretary, JK Sinha, Asst. Director General of police, Anurag Dhyankar, DIG of BSF, SK Sinha, and other officials last evening.
CM, who is also the home minister of the state expressed concern over the recent rise in the infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals and directed the concerned officials to take appropriate action against those involved in providing shelter and facilitating illegal border crossings. 
DIG, BSF, mentioned that the availability of manpower on the border has been affected due to the general parliamentary election and the deployment of BSF troops in Manipur. He assured that concerted efforts with all agencies would yield positive results. Identifying and taking action against touts would reduce infiltration incidents. 
He also informed that the BSF is in the process of installing electronic gadgets for border surveillance at vulnerable patches. Several other issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Meanwhile, five Rohingyas, including three women, were arrested at Churaibari at the Assam-Tripura border from a Guwahati bound passenger’s bus in North Tripura district for illegally entering into the country without any legal documents.
A Police officer posted in the Churaibari police station said, during a preliminary interrogation, they revealed that they fled from a Rohingya camp in Bangladesh and were going to Hyderabad for jobs. 
Police said, more than 30 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at Agartala railway station in the last four days. 
The Bangladeshis and the Rohingyas were involved in drug peddling and human trafficking.
A BSF official quoting an official report said, they arrested 744 infiltrators including 112 Rohingyas last year. FD JK
