Agartala, Mar 24 (FD) Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said he would look into the alleged inconsistency in the memorandum of settlement over construction of an international cricket stadium here.
He said this in reply to a question raised by the Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman in the assembly.
Expressing his surprise, Burman said, what prompted Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) to agree to the clause of the pact, because of which the Tripura High Court asked the TCA to pay Rs. 25 crore to the Jharkhand, based construction company within only five days.
He said, the TCA had paid the money hurriedly and the rest of the money would be paid within July.
Barman said the judge is due to retire on March 25 and the state government should challenge the single bench court order.
He further alleged that, in response to an arbitration case regarding constructions of the stadium in West Tripura district the TCA paid Rs. 13 crore to the firm due to cost escalation, out of which Rs. 9.04 crore was paid already.
Replying to the question, Chief Minister said, “Since TCA is an autonomous body the government cannot interfere into their matter. But in case of any law and order problem, police can interfere. I will look into the matter”.
However, the TCA Secretary, Subrata Dey said the court has taken a proactive action as the agreement was signed seven years ago. FD JK
