CM asks central government to take up with Bangladesh for operationalizing Maitri Setu in Sabrrom

Agartala, Oct 10 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha urged central government to take up with Bangladesh for completion of all formalities to open the Maitri Setu over Feni River so that Tripura gets connected through Chittagong sea port of the neighbouring country.
Dr Saha also raised proposals for consideration to central government to declare Netaji Subash Regional Training Centre of Gymnastics as National Gymnastics Academy and sanction of fund to construct a national level swimming pool in the state.
Highlighting the developmental and other issues of Tripura and other Northeastern states on the second day of the two-day long Plenary meeting of North Eastern Council (NSC) that started on October 8 last, Dr Saha urged Union Minister for Home Affairs and Co-operation and Chairman of NEC Amit Shah and other members of the council to look into the matter and to request Bangladesh government to complete all formalities to operationalize the Maitri Setu over Feni River functional.
Besides, Dr Saha during his address in the meeting raised an issue of getting no objection from Bangladesh for construction of Moharighat and Manughat integrate Development Complex.
Raising the proposal for construction of a national-level swimming pool in the state, the Chief Minister said, the state is not getting much recognition in the country as it does not have Olympic level swimming pools and facilities.
Besides, he also appealed the centre to communicate with the Bangladesh government to start air services with the Chettagong Airport of the country soon. FD PD JK
