Closing Ceremony of 78th Bankul Mahamuni Festival & Fair Held in Sabroom

Agartala, Mar 18 (FD) The closing ceremony of the 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Mela was held at Manu Bankul in Sabroom sub-division on March 17, with Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia attending as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of preserving cultural and religious traditions, stating that the state government respects all communities, religions, and festivals.
The minister highlighted the government's efforts in establishing the International Buddhist University at Bankul and expressed hope that such festivals would help foster peace in the state.
Several dignitaries, including MLAs Mailafru Mog and Jitendra Majumder, Buddhist Guru Khemachra Bhante, Buddhist Monk U Kaodania, MDC Debjit Tripura, and Secretary of Mahamuni Development Society Thaikei Mog, also spoke at the event. MLA Pramod Riang, MDC Kongjong Mog, and Assistant Director of ICA Department Pramod Acharjee were also present.
During the festival, top farmers were awarded for their contributions in a fruit and vegetable exhibition. Additionally, 10 exhibition stalls were set up, showcasing development initiatives of various departments.
Cultural programs were organized daily by the ICA Department, and renowned Assamese singer Dipanwita Deka performed at the closing ceremony, adding grandeur to the event. FD SB
