Agartala, Sept 2 (FD) All the major banks in Tripura on Monday agreed to sanction loans for the flood victims in the state, who have lost their properties and infrastructures damaged due to the devastating flood the state has ever witnessed.
This decision was taken in a special State Level Bankers Committee held in the civil secretariat chaired by the Chief Secretary J K Sinha.
The bankers, who were present in the meeting were General Manager, SLBC/ General Manager, RBI, Agartala / General Manager, NABARD, Agartala Regional Office / Deputy Zonal Manager, PNB, Guwahati / DGM, PNB (SLBC)/ Regional Manager, SBI / Zonal Manager, UCO/Chairman, TGB / Managing Director, TSCB.
The Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Directors of different Departments stated about the loss of human lives, crops, Anganwadi centres, School buildings, Life stocks, Fisheries, Animal husbandry, Rural infrastructure in the State.
Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department informed the meeting that assessment is going on about crop loss and a total picture of the damage will be brought to the knowledge of the Bankers within a week.
Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers opined that loans can be provided under Kisan Credit Card (KCC) by organising special camp in the flood affected areas.
Secretary, ARDD and Fisheries Department also informed that huge amount of loss incurred in the live stock and fishery sector in the State.
Sinha also requested all the Bankers including NABARD and RBI to extend full cooperation to the flood victim families and conduct CSR activity in the affected areas. FD JK
