Chief Minister holds Security meet, orders Border surveillance boost

Agartala, May 9 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday held a high level meeting with the heads of the security forces in the state and directed them to remain alert in view of the war like situation in the country and maintain a very strong vigil along the 856 km long border with the neighboring Bangladesh.
In the hour-long meeting DG of Tripura Police Anurag Dhyankar, BSF I.G, Tripura Frontier, Aswini Kumar Sharma, I.G, CRPF, Vimal Kumar Bist and Brigadier of the Indian Army (Name not known) and D.I.G of Assam Rifles and key intelligence officers were present.
Saha directed all the officials to remain alert about the situation particularly on the border with Bangladesh.
“We must remain high alert to curb cross border movements of the infiltrators and curb the border related crimes including smuggling and women trafficking. Maintaining peace in the border as well as in the state is very crucial in this hour”, Chief Minister told the meeting.
Sources said the authorities are planning to deploy more forces, install surveillance tools and intensify patrolling of BSF along the border. He also mentioned about the unfenced areas, where more alert is required.
A night curfew was promulgated from 8 PM to 6 Am withing 200 meters from the international border prohibiting movements of people, gatherings and carrying of arms. FD JK
