Agartala, May 29 (FD) Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, returned from the inauguration of the new Parliament building in New Delhi and presented a comprehensive account of achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime over the last nine years.
Speaking at a media interaction, he praised the spirit of 'seva, sushashan, and garib kalyan' (service, good governance, and welfare of the poor) that has permeated the government's policies. He also emphasised the positive impact of massive development initiatives on North East India, stating that the region is experiencing a "feel good" sensation.
Dr. Saha said that the state government's accomplishments in various sectors shed light on the ongoing development roadmap called 'Lakshya 2047.' Launched in January last year, this initiative aims to address administrative challenges and set development goals in six key sectors: infrastructure, governance, the private sector, industries, forests and the environment, and climate change. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of reducing administrative delays to enhance the efficiency of governance.
During the media interaction, the Chief Minister enumerated a range of achievements, including infrastructure development, improved connectivity, advancements in public healthcare and education, and initiatives promoting women's welfare and the upliftment of backward classes. He emphasised the successful implementation of targeted welfare schemes such as the Atal Jal Dhara Mission, which aims to provide 12 crore safe drinking water connections nationwide, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which provides housing benefits. He also highlighted the provision of subsidised sanitary pads for women and free gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Dr. Saha commended Prime Minister Modi's commitment to development without discrimination, stating that the poor can be equal contributors to the nation's progress. He also praised the government's efforts in public healthcare, particularly the administration of two COVID-19 vaccines and the provision of subsidised medicines through Jan Aushadi Kendras.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the government's support for farmers, including the doubling of their income, subsidies for fertilisers, and benefits under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He emphasised the BJP-led government's dedication to national security and mentioned significant achievements in defence production as well as successful rescue operations to bring back stranded Indians from various countries.
Dr. Saha, joined by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, concluded the interaction by stating that Tripura and North East India are progressing with a similar model of development known as HIRA (Highways, Internet, Railways, and Airways).
As the BJP prepares to celebrate nine years of Prime Minister Modi's rule, BJP state chief Rajib Bhattacharjee announced a month-long Jan Sampark Abhiyan to raise awareness about the government's achievements.
In a subsequent press conference, Dr. Saha detailed Tripura's accomplishments in various sectors, including MSME, infrastructure, investment, women's empowerment, health, nutrition, and skill development. He emphasised the state's progress in implementing the PM Gati Shakti scheme and the formulation of the Tripura Integrated Logistics Policy.
With increased capital expenditure and support from the central government and funding agencies, Tripura has identified over 2000 acres of land for industrial development, PPP, SEZ, and sector-specific projects. Dr. Saha concluded by stressing the importance of promoting cooperative relations between states and ensuring the unified implementation of welfare schemes across the country.
The month-long series of events to commemorate Prime Minister Modi's nine-year rule promises to raise awareness about the transformative achievements of the government and its commitment to inclusive. FD JK
