New Delhi, Apr 27 (FD) Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has said with the operationalisation of the Maitri Setu in Sabroom in South Tripura district would boost the connectivity and enhance trade with the neighboring Bangladesh and Tripura would emerge as the gateway to North-East with the South Asian region.
Addressing a seminar CM of Tripura addressed a seminar titled 'One Earth-One Health here Saha also said, opening of an international standard Ayurveda and Yoga school in Tripura will tap into the trade potential with South East Asia and position Tripura as the gateway to the region once the connectivity through Sabroom Maitri-Setu becomes operational.
He laid emphasis on the establishment of an international standard Ayurveda and Yoga school in Tripura.
Saha highlighted the abundance of medicinal plants in the hills and valleys of Tripura. His vision of setting up an Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit in the state, utilizing this valuable resource. By leveraging the state's natural wealth and promoting traditional healing practices, Tripura aims to create commercial opportunities and strengthen its ties with South East Asian nations.
The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of Tripura to the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, emphasizing their dedication to the welfare of the entire world. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting the principle of 'One Earth-One Health,' which advocates for the well-being of all living beings, including animals. This approach aims to prevent diseases, reduce costs, improve food security, and ultimately save lives.
The two-day programme, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries such as Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang, Member of NITI Aayog VK Pal, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospital Group Sangeetha Reddy, and General Secretary of FICCI Shailesh Pathak.
Saha said “the progressive policies being implemented in Tripura's health services sector. He mentioned that many patients from neighboring Bangladesh seek medical treatment in Tripura. Therefore, the development of world-class medical infrastructure in the state would benefit not only its citizens but also the people of Bangladesh, who could avail affordable medical services”.
Furthermore, recognizing the high demand for modern medical methods integrated with AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) among citizens of Bangladesh, the Chief Minister proposed the construction of a border multi-specialty hospital in Tripura. This initiative would cater to the medical needs of patients from both India and Bangladesh, fostering collaboration and exchange between the two countries. FD SB JK
