Agartala, Aug 22 (FD) Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took a sharp dig at Congress leaders, labeling them as "dramatists" during a state-level workshop on IT and social media. Dr. Saha accused certain Congress figures, including MLA Sudip Roy Barman, of indulging in attention-seeking behaviors and opportunistic party-switching.
Dr. Saha, addressing the workshop attendees, asserted that the Northeast region now feels included in the national mainstream, a sentiment echoed by other Chief Ministers of the region. He attributed this progress to a departure from past governments' "divide-and-rule" strategies that had neglected the area.
With a thinly veiled reference to Sudip Roy Barman, the Chief Minister admonished such leaders for their political opportunism, likening them to "cockroaches" that frequently switch parties for personal gain. Dr. Saha questioned their commitment to public welfare, suggesting they are driven by self-interest.
He highlighted the limited alternatives available to the public, with Congress serving as the only option apart from the CPIM. Dr. Saha criticized both parties, associating the Congress with disorder and the CPIM with coercion, manipulation, and violence. He concluded by branding both the Emergency during the Congress era and the CPIM's tenure as dark periods in political history. FD SB JK
