Changes in Rajdhani Express schedule to make the journey longer and costlier
By Firstdespatch Desk Sep 20, 2023
Agartala, Sept 20 (FD) Starting January 17 next year, passengers travelling on the lone Rajdhani Express route between Agartala and Anand Vihar can expect both longer journeys and higher fares. The North East Frontier Railway, in accordance with Railway Board directives, has announced significant changes to the train's schedule.
The train's departure time from Agartala will shift from the current 7 p.m. to 3.10 p.m., making the journey commence earlier in the day. However, the arrival time at Anand Vihar remains unchanged, resulting in an extended travel time of four hours from Agartala.
These modifications are due to the Railway Board's decision to reroute the train. It will now pass through Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, and Patna Junction instead of its previous route via Katihar, Patliputra, and Barauni stations.
While this decision may have its reasons, it poses an inconvenience to passengers from Tripura, Mizoram, and Barak Valley Districts of Assam. These regions are already considerably distant from the capital, Delhi, and the altered route will further lengthen their journeys. FD SB JK
