Central Govt prioritizes Tribal Heritage and North-East Devt initiative

Agartala, Nov 15 (FD) The Central Government has emphasized the socio-economic upliftment and infrastructure development of the North-East region, with a special focus on presenting the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda to the present generation. This was highlighted by Union Minister of State for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bastonia, during the Dhalai District People’s Pride Day program held at Ambasa Town Hall today.
While inaugurating the event, the Union Minister mentioned the government’s commitment to inclusive development across the country. She stressed that various schemes are being implemented to empower marginalized communities and celebrate tribal heritage. A live telecast of the inauguration of the Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan by the Prime Minister from Jamui, Bihar, was also part of the program. The initiative aims to enhance rural prosperity and honor tribal contributions.
During the event, foundational stones for numerous projects were laid. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana received approvals to build houses, while Ayushman cards and forest pattas were distributed. Among the dignitaries present were Dhalai Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sushmita Das, MLA Swapna Das Pal, MDC Vroonanda Riang, and District Magistrate Saju Bahid A.
Later, Minister Bastonia visited the refugee settlement in Ruha Para, accompanied by district officials and inspected ongoing projects, including schools, health centers, and Anganwadi centers. She interacted with workers and residents to understand their needs.
The event underscored the government’s dual focus on preserving tribal heritage and fostering holistic development in the North-East region.
