Catastrophic flood in Tripura: Government receives donation of Rs. 93.23 crores

Agartala, Aug 30 (FD) When Tripura is still facing a catastrophic disaster in the form of a flood, hundreds of social workers, government officials and security force personnel came to the aid of the distressed people.
When 31 persons lost their lives, one is missing and when about 1, 50,000 people rendered homeless and forced take refuge in government buildings, people also did not turn blind eyes.
They came forward generously in relief of the victims, by providing foods and clothes and also donated in Chief Minister’s relief funds.
Officials said, the state government has so far received more than Rs 93.23 crores.
Donations provided by different Governments are as follows- Madhya Pradesh gave Rs 15 crores, the government of Uttar Pradesh gave Rs 20 crores, the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath gave Rs 10 crores from his relief fund, the government of Chhattishgarh gave Rs 15 crore and the government of Arunachal Pradesh gave Rs 5 crores.
Two Loksabha MPs of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Singh Debbarma donated Rs 1 crore each from their MPLAD fund.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha donated his one month’s salary and almost all the ministers like Minister for food and civil supplies, Sushanata Chowdhury, Finance minister, Pranajit Sinha Roy and others have donated generously from their salaries.
The ace gymnast Deepa Karmakar and many other individuals and NGOs also have donated open-handedly to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
When the state incurred a loss of at least 15,000 crore, a inter-ministerial team of the central government completed an on the spot study. The centre initially released Rs.40 crore, but it is presumed that centre would allocate money after submission of the reports by the team. FD JK
