Case filed against 18 for blocking NH in Tripura

Agartala, May 22 (FD) A case has been registered against 18 individuals for blocking a national highway in Tripura’s Dhalai district. The charges were filed under Section 8(B) of the National Highways Act, 1956 and Sections 126(1)/61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing traffic and causing public inconvenience.
The incident occurred on May 15 at the Kali Bari Tri-junction in the 82-Mile Bazar area. A group of men and women staged a protest by blocking the road, expressing their opposition to the transfer of Dr. Akash Bhowmik, a physician at the 82-Mile Primary Health Centre.
Police personnel from Manu Police Station promptly intervened and dispersed the protesters, restoring normal traffic flow. A case was subsequently filed, and the doctor concerned is among the 18 individuals named. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Longtarai Valley confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. PRESS RELEASE
