Cambodia: 67 Indian Nationals Rescued from Fraudulent Job Offers

In Cambodia, 67 Indian nationals were rescued trapped in fraudulent job offers obtained through fake agents, who lured them into cyber crimes. The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh, in close cooperation with the Cambodian police, is now facilitating the repatriation of these nationals in batches. Around 15 nationals have already left for India on 30th September and 24 more have left on 1st October. The remaining 28 will reach India in the course of the next few days.
The Embassy in a statement said that it continues to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to helping our nationals trapped in cyber crimes. It further advised Indian nationals to exercise extreme caution in taking up job opportunities in Cambodia and other Southeast Asian countries through suspicious agents and social media advertisements. The Embassy also asked those stuck in such activities and wishing to return to India, to get in touch with it through the emergency contact number +85592881676 and emails at [email protected] and [email protected]. It also issued a Cambodian Hotline No. +85592686969.
Since January 2022 till date, the Embassy has facilitated the repatriation of over 1,000 Indian Citizens, with nearly 770 in the first nine months of 2024.
